Librarian-ing & knitting, mostly. (Not really doing things, as it turns out.)
Helping a student with citations. She said "I asked my aunt & she said 'oh I'm not that kind of librarian.'"
Me: well I'm a little rusty with APA, but I am indeed that kind of librarian.

Favorite thing I've seen today: "controversial holiday music opinion: Rufus Wainwright's version of Hallelujah is better than Edward Cohen's version." I just enjoyed the comments.

I have a regular drip coffee maker. I accidentally ground coffee beans for a French press. Not sure if I can fix them.

Tarantino's take on Paul Dano is wrong but unsurprising. Also: critiquing a performance from 2007 & appearing on Bret Easton Ellis's podcast tells me all I need to know about weak sauce.

If people are cancelling Costco memberships because the company is suing Trump administration to get tariff refunds, does that mean my store will be more pleasant?

What's the most important function of a copier/printer? Is it copying & printing? Because I've got a machine here that won't do a damn thing because it is out of staples. It's the week before finals. No one needs this hassle.

From now on, everything goes on the Christmas list. My dad never knows what to buy & I'm trying to steer him away from Amazon. Working on a list of online stationery & kitchen supply shops (there's the hybrid store I should open!).

I'm already tired of the word "cyber" this week, but I did need a new winter jacket & a new pair of base layer pants for winter walks, so I guess opening cyber week sales emails is working out. (But putting my credit card on ice now, thanks.)

Dessert: store-bought cherry pie but with ginger ice cream. Bf: The situation warrants it. Me: I knew you wouldn't be able to help yourself.

Over the past few days, I've made a lasagna, roasted several vegetables, cleaned the house, hosted, & have now run 3 loads of dishes. I think I've decided I'm absolutely finished with Thanksgiving.

My favorite deviled eggs tip: use Gulden's spicy brown mustard & mayo (use the amounts you want - they're not my eggs). Instead of paprika, sprinkle Old Bay on top.

Reading about Jimmy Cliff's death this morning, I thought of the lady at Costco who sings "You can get it if you really want" as she prepares & gives out food samples. It's always fun & really fantastic marketing, I think.

Seems like it might be rude to bring knitting to a poetry reading, yes?

Watching John Oliver the other night & he showed Bob Ross & Peapod his squirrel. My bf did not know about it. I really thought everyone did, but I did watch it often when my grammie was in her painting phase. My mom's BFF also loved him.

I was a little too old for Raffi's music but clearly I was missing out on this icon.
if men were the menstruaters (pun intended), there’d be a shrine to menstruation every few blocks. they’d never stop talking about it. pro sports stats would include a pms* asterisk. #FemaleSupremacy

A week ago, I spent a day in Savannah, mostly at SCAD. All the art was interesting. Some was really fun. My dad's been fly fishing since I was a little kid & makes his own flies & the grad student docent wasn't prepared for how excited I was about these. (These belong to the artist Michi Meko.)

Asked whether there is anything incriminating in the Epstein files, Trump responds by telling a female reporter to be "quiet" and seemingly calling her "piggy."

This is not how an innocent man behaves.

Trump cannot hide his misogyny even for his own benefit.
"Quiet! Quiet, Piggy."

Sharing an office with 2 other people (with big shelving units splitting up the room) is funny. I can't always tell when they've left the room & end up asking a question - talking to myself, really.

I was telling the story of the Devil's Backbone Tavern song last week. We drove by a Bojangles en route to CT & then Jerry Jeff Walker became a conversation topic, leading me to talk about Todd Snider, of course .
Todd Snider, the folk singer and songwriter whose wry wit coursed through big-hearted ballads rallying for the underdog, and whose charming onstage stories often lasted longer than the songs they introduced, died on Friday. He was 59.
Todd Snider, Folk Singer With a Wry Wit, Dies at 59
Mentored by the likes of Jimmy Buffett and John Prine, his big-hearted ballads told of heartache even as his humor revealed a steadfast optimism.

I'm excited for Stranger Things to wrap up but it's been long enough since the last season that I barely remember what happened. And the 9 years since it first started on Netflix have been the longest & shortest of my life.
