In Detroit for #USIH. @jmadelman.bsky.social and I decided to check out the Motown Museum. It was a great tour and worth the stop.

It’s that time of year where Clio needs to wear a sweater but she’s rather shiver than put on a piece of dog clothing. It drives me crazy because my dog should not be cold. So we just compromised.

My reading assistant enjoying @ronajohnson.bsky.social’s new book Entangled Alliances. He was struck by how intertwined events in Saint Domingue were with the American Revolution and vice versa.

This is a stroopwafel (pronounced Strope-waffle) and it is sitting on top of my tea cup in proper form.

Stroopwafels are yummy Dutch tea cookies. This one has a a honey syrup in the middle.

When institutions fail, how do everyday people fight back?

In 1760s North Carolina, the Regulators: farmers, craftsmen & religious dissenters rose against corruption, injustice & land theft.

They asked for reform.
They got cannon fire.

I went to my first game at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, thanks to @noraslonimsky.bsky.social. We had a great time, although I had a better time because the Red Sox beat the Yanks 12-1.
