Woo! Sonia Raman becomes the first woman of Indian American origin to become head coach of a WNBA team (the Seattle Storm)!

(She comes to the Storm from the NY Liberty, where she was the first Indian American woman to become an assistant coach)

Btw, here's the answer 👇

Granted, it took me about 3 minutes of skimming to find it.

But it's not about the time. It's about the irritation & cognitive load (& mild uptick in anxiety ("will i find the answer? how long will it take?")) of having to do that skimming in the first place.

This is kind of what I meant

These are a woman's PhD thesis "anti-acknowledgements" (currently circulating the interwebs)

If you never ran into this kind of stuff, day in day out, from the time you were nine or so, you don't see how the world is stacked against other groups, and not against you

This guy is a Brit, so I'm willing to give him grace on not knowing all of US history

What I object to — & which no woman/POC wld get away w — is the sheer _arrogance to cavalierly write "I had to look it up in Wikipedia"

Educate yourself, sure.

But show some respect, ffs

Former AL U.S. Atty (& co-host of the #SistersInLaw podcast) @JoyceWhiteVance.bsky.social said (on the other place) that it was a brilliant strategy to limit relief to just the plaintiffs, bc it will push red states to also get in the game (& not just coast on blue states)

This is because women (thru conditioning or nature or both) keep an eye on the big picture, anticipate potential health issues, take proactive steps to head them off, and carve out time to care for parents after surgeries /incidents.

Want to live longer?

Train your sons to be/do the same
