Of course, while it is demanding it is also infinitely rewarding. But it is strange that it is not something we talk about more as part of our ongoing professional development.

Me too....but it is conplex work mixing layers of professional, personal, research, mentoring, teaching, emotional, and intellectual engagement at a high level of responsibility for all of this. It is not easy and it is rarely taught. We operate on instinct and experience.

Det beror på hur man definierar "kultureliten." Det intellektuella arbetet bedrivs nog främst på universiteten (+ delvis inom konsten). Där är en bit kvar innan det konservativa segertåget gjort sitt - också i USA. Obs: jag syftar på forskare och lärare - inte rektorer och boards of trustees.
