Put this on a billboard.
More Americans voted for Senator Alex Padilla than for 48 of the 53 red state GOP U.S. Senators combined.

The treatment of Senator Alex Padilla is disgraceful — no matter how you look at it.

If this is how the Trump Administration treats a sitting U.S. Senator, we should all be alarmed.

More than a century after the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921, one of the most horrific episodes of racial violence in U.S. history, the city’s mayor announced a $105 million reparations package on Sunday. It is the first large-scale plan committing funds to address the impact of the atrocity.

The way that RFK Jr. describes those on the Autism Spectrum is gross. He shows his internal eugenist: people with disability are not “problems” or “broken” or “suffering” simply because of their disability. The thing that destroys families is not the disability, it’s the hate towards the disabled.
Autism is not a disease and these kids are not damaged, despite what HHS Secretary Kennedy says.

Joy is its own form of resistance.
Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive

When the stakes are this high, incompetence is not an option.

Pete Hegseth should resign.

Mike Waltz should resign.

Sigh.
You can tell antivaxxers don’t actually care about children because a child died and these sickos are using it as an excuse to share juice recipes and promote their supplements.

There’s more aluminum in a cup of carrot juice than in the two-dose MMR series. And carrot juice doesn’t prevent measles.

Walking in a Roman amphitheater in Verona, looking down, and seeing an ammonite was one of my unexpected favorite things in Italy.

I’ve been quiet because I’ve been focusing on keeping the queer, disabled, and neurodivergent loved ones in my life healthy and enabled with the right mental health tools for this travesty of an administration.

I resist through existing.

Ally, family, I’m whatever you need. ♥️
And I am an ally. If you are too, let the world know.

If you love rocks, pictures of rocks, geology, pictures of geology, and discussion: follow this group.
I’m finding it hard to locate the #geology & #paleontology crowd here so I made a starter pack. If you post about geo/paleo topics (news, research, even art) at least half the time, leave a comment and I’ll add you. Please share!

Update on the update: our Medicaid funded program is not responding as of yet. Still trying.
Update: new insurance approved the chair in less than a week. UHC is the problem when it comes to chronic care and disabled care.
UnitedHealthcare (can’t tag) denied my quadriplegic child a power wheelchair in a denial dated Dec 25. No only are they denying based on reasons that don’t exist, they made someone work on a federal holiday.

Second attempt, third and final appeal. Now we go to the state of California to appeal.

It’s beyond infuriating.
As a parent of two kids with special needs, I'm pretty damn excited to know that a racist billionaire who routinely uses the slur "r*tards" is destroying the federal department that's a bulwark for special education and support for disabled children.

It’s important to know that a lot of productive activity is happening in person and offline, too.

Not all of it can be broadcast online, but we’ve had hundreds of people showing up to our trainings, mobilizations, and more.

Keep going. Tyranny is eroded by a sea of small acts. Everything matters.

If DJT succeeds at keeping medicaid funds frozen (or removing funding for medicaid at all), children with disabilities will be the ones who pay the price with their lives and their families financial ruin.
January 28, 2025 at 10:41 PM
This is why I, the parent of a disabled child, so strongly dislike the term “you’re so strong.“
I am a parent. I am only doing what every parent should be able to do if their child needed it.
Ugh don't call people strong or brave for having survived something

the best way they could

please don't annotate people's trauma for them even if it's in the public eye
