PROBLEM: successive generations are growing up with new/novel ways of looking at the world that is 1000% ruining theirs and others' growth. at the same time being cynical and finger wagging as the now aging generation doesnt work bc you had it done to you. how do you communicate to break the cycle?

there is a boring digital economy on being "insightful" and almost all of it is taking place on LinkedIn. im not sure tweeting about it like i am right now is much better though

this is def a thing more in gaming communities but it kind of applies to all hobbies. i hate it when people quit/retire from a hobby that they clearly cared about and then proceed to shit on it retroactively usually to the tone of "man i can believe i used to do X instead of doing Y right now"

recently, i've been getting a lot of nostalgia for the memories/video games i enjoyed as a kid. i think it's great and even healthy to reminiscence and appreciate the things we enjoyed growing up. however, i think anyone reminiscing should deploy some level of restraint when doing so (1/2)

never understood the i "hope it never ends" mindset when it comes to enjoying anything (particularly media) because the satisfaction you get from proper closure of something great might be one of the highest highs i've personally ever felt and it's something i actively pursue

my older sibling always told me growing up to start a diary and i never listened to her but it's alright bc i made a twitter account in summer of 2017 and i've never stopped posting

i have just been informed about valve's alleged mishandling of the game 2015-to the present time (i quit tf2 like late 2014). unfortunate, but i would still contend that the good outweighs the bad here and i think most people, even those most critical of valve, would agree.
bittersweet but ultimately a great send-off to a game that had such a large and positive impact on my life. i'm glad that tf2 is still around and I hope others get to enjoy it like i did growing up! tf2 was largely what led me to meet my closest friends in my life and i'm forever grateful to it.

as someone who says a lot of dumb shit on purpose to bait, i always find it interesting on the opposite end of the pond where you have people who are framing their opinions belligerently/in bad faith and then getting mad/defensive when people make fun of them in response

I'm with Kelly here: deeply interested in leftism as a political project but have no interest whatsoever in leftism as a subculture. the stakes of leaving this behind are hopefully clearer by the day
