i just dont view the human experience as discrete periods where you're this type person until you arent.

a formative part of ur life. like thats clearly not correct just from like a factual perspective and it also isn't exactly the best look for your friends who are still in that circle after you left. there's nothing WRONG with it mind you but i think it's extremely corny and near-sighted

a big part of your life and was clearly meaningful is suddenly completely worthless to you. this is like the opposite problem of people who peak in X early childhood period of their lives but instead of being stuck in the past it's completely blanking that period of their lives as if it wasn't

like, i get that some people need to like self-validate themselves when picking up new tasks as motivation for them to stick with it/or to help them move on, but I also think it's extremely tacky and just kind of a dumb person thing to do to pretend that your prior life in this circle that defined

i see them frequently to be quite honest. however, i will not be telling you where they are

if nothing else, i aim to look forward to create new memories so that an even older version of myself can look fondly upon the present like i currently am with my childhood

it's easy to get caught up in the time where you had the least responsibility in your life and i think can lead to bitterness that hampers people in pursuing life defining memories/experiences in the future.

i like to think that finality is one of many necessary traits that makes a lot of things that we enjoy great

and by other series i dont just mean valve (especially since ATM they seem inclined to focus on hardware and steam). i would like to see other talent make something as industry defining and influential to successive generations as valve games were for myself

i just hope that the amazing memories i've had through playing great valve games (l4d, tf2, cs) are preserved/replicated in other series. video games are at their best when they are innovative, fun ,and bring people together. it's not easy to have all 3 but the most memorable games do.

this isn't to say that valve was/is the perfect company, but I still in a lot of ways respect the way valve goes about things as a game company. unfortunate tf2 didn't receive better treatment as a game in its latter years since it couldnt become an esport like CS
