UMC Pastor, Applied Sociologist, MBA student. My dream is to run a retreat center where deeply spiritual contemplative practices are a lifestyle.
This is my fun reading for the holiday. And it's also related to my current project.

Pips is a logic puzzle where players must arrange a set of dominoes to meet the conditions of the board to win. Even though the game is timed, there’s no way to lose. nyti.ms/4oe65HR

Make more art. Write more stories. Read more books. Share what you love with others. Appreciate all the beauty there is in the world. Now more than ever we need creatives to keep creating.

Silence is not absence but the manifestation of a presence.

If you don’t want to read Edgar Allan Poe together by candlelight in a cottage on the Scottish coast during a full moon whilst sharing emotional support scones, then please don’t tell me you’re “relationship material”.

AOC: We heard that we should take your word that Medicaid will be protected — that we should trust you that no one is going to be affected by this. But as a woman, the word was given that my rights would not be taken away by the Supreme Court — and that wasn’t true.

When you can’t tell the difference between your Christianity and your privilege, calls for equality will sound like religious persecution.

You know what would be amazing for so many of us?

To remember what it's like thinking something really good is about to happen.

Remember that feeling?

Let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.‭‭—Heb ‭12‬:‭1‬-‭2‬

When you demonize and harm the immigrant, the poor, the sick, and the marginalized with oppressive laws, you don’t need to tell me about your religious beliefs.

You've already shown me what they are by how you're mistreating the immigrant, the poor, the sick, and the marginalized.

I have always worked to lift others up, to inspire with the presence of God, to try and make life better. It's feeling more and more like that isn't going to be possible for much longer. I really hope I'm wrong.

The way of the cross. The way of Jesus. The way of humility, service and preference of others. The way of dying to self & rising with Christ. There’s no other following. This has been the stunning forfeiture in this generation’s discipleship & we have borne its fruit. In repentance we regather joy.

"The poor you will always have with you," Jesus said to his disciples as they made their way to the cross.

God has never been present in corrupt systems or the people who support and perpetuate them. God is always present on the margins. The Kingdom of God is at hand, and it is within each of us who share God's concern for the poor, the marginalized, the broken, and the oppressed.

I will also be doing a study on the political and religious situation when Jesus was spending his last 30 days on a journey to Jerusalem, for the last visit, and to the cross. I see many similarities between what was going on then and what is happening now.

Our stock market is crashing.

Our economy is contracting.

Our government is dismantling.

Our allies are fleeing.

Our grocery prices are rising.

But at least we now call it "The Gulf of America."

So it all evens out.
