I wrote a little somethingnabout the proliferation and utilisation of additive manufacuring in the military technology sector, looking into primary production of armaments, the use of AM for maintenance, repair and overhaul, and into its use for non-state actors to self-manufacture armament
Additive Manufacturing in the Military Technology Sector: In the new PRIF Report, @liskasuckau.bsky.social provides a unique overview of the socio-technical environment of this emerged technology, coloquially known as 3D printing.

Worth a read! Documenting observations of military innovation practices in the Dutch Robots and Autonomous Systems unit
I saw the mentioned Milrem THeMIS UGV last year at ELROB, and slow progress, malfunctions, frustration next to passion for the technology, were characterising UGVs usage and trials

One of the rare accounts - perhaps the first comprehensive and detailed one I have come across, that discusses the operational drawbacks and technical limitations of FPV drones, as well as issues with non-standardised or DIY equipment at the frontlines in Ukraine

I always thought that RMA´s revolutionary annoyance to me could not be topped. But reading research about additive manufacturing is even more insufferable, seems like there is no other word than REVOLUTIONARY to describe any new developments or research. What do people think a revolution is??

Articles like this leave me speechless sometimes. Autonomy does not change everything in combat engineering. Besides not really justifiying the urgent need for robotics in US land warfare, it absolutely ignores the technical complexities of autonomy in the land domain, i.e. EW, 1/3
Autonomy changes everything about combat engineering
Sending robotic vehicles into the breach saves lives by removing humans from one of the most dangerous places on the battlefield.

am not able to choose one good quote out of this because there are too many

highly recommend to read. @rbarretttaylor.bsky.social is explaining the trap of emerging technologies' abilities to increase the efficiency of warfare and -fighting and the technological determinism powering such narrative
I wanted to pin this to my profile as it is still relevant. A piece I wrote for the Alan Turing Institute.

It remains to be seen how the transport of those mines will be handled, which according to the convention is forbidden through a signatory‘s territory. Considering Germany‘s passiveness to prevent an earlier transfer through it’s territory, for the sake of the ban, this should be closely monitored
