Had to say this on the other site, so guess I'll say it here too:

I'm an acespec feminist. If you don't want to hear from "people who don't even have sex" on topics like rape culture, sexual objectification in media, decriminalization of sex work, etc., then I'm probably not the account for you.

since I see ppl posting pictures from a pseudoscience convention this morn, I will re-up this. Blanchard's theory of autogynephilia (read: his taxonomy & etiology) have been disproved by multiple research studies (see my reviews here):

Something I always notice about 'liberal' pro-natalists is that they want more births, but are averse to opposing coercive fertility limitations (eg in the criminal legal system).
Liberal or conservative, it's entirely about *who* is allowed to, or forced to, have and raise their own children.
Talking about birth rate panic and referencing pro-natalist agendas without talking about eugenics and *who* these people think should be having kids is an interesting editorial decision.
As women have far fewer babies, the U.S. and the world face unprecedented challenges
Far more families are choosing to have fewer — or no — children. Many countries, including the U.S., now face a rapidly aging population that could begin to shrink.

i regret to inform you that you will simply never be able to craft a coherent vision of queer liberation without feminism, no matter how much you want to leave women out of your visions of a sexually free world

sexual violence is THE key operative mechanism of patriarchal enforcement & regulation of bodies, "penetrability," and sexuality/the heterosexual regime. queer oppression is more than thwarted desire. sexual freedom must begin with body autonomy & freedom from coercion

louise michel, an anarchist woman involved in the paris commune, was among the first (that we know of) to explicitly name the black flag as a symbol of anarchism. the story goes that she used a black petticoat as a flag in an 1883 demonstration of starving workers. i love that. a woman's underskirt

Feminism’s criticism of men’s violence against women & the sexualisation of men’s violence exists wholly apart from religious right criticism of porn, not least because elements of the right believe in dismantling protections against MVAWG
This article has the hallmarks of the new anti-porn “feminism” movement that aligns with right-wing religious politics. It seems designed to shock and horrify, highlights only the stories of abuse, and implies a “porn culture” poisoning youth/men. Even if the stats are right, the angle is suspect.

It’s a semantic point but choking is when the windpipe is obstructed from the inside, i.e. with a piece of food. What this is referring to is called strangulation.

A modest proposal:

Every major news organization should have a full-time trans writer on staff who gets to write about trans issues.

rinse and repeat forever until every single paper on history or anthropology of childhood has to begin with "childhood is a social construct so who can say if sexual abuse is really all that bad?" or else it won't get published

Child marriage is legal in 35 US states, but it's interesting how the laws don't map neatly onto a red state/blue state divide.

California has no minimum marriage age, where Texas only allows 16 & 17 year olds to marry if they are emancipated, and there's bipartisan support to close that loophole.

"feminism is about choices and my choice is to be loudly acephobic, biphobic, and lesbophobic. I'm a sex positive ally by the way." - the average liberal cis straight woman I run into online (at least that's what it feels like lately)

"You can't have a litmus test for who can be a feminist"

I can and I will.

How are you going to dismantle patriarchy without being pro-abortion, anti-rape, and pro-LGBTQIA+, ESPECIALLY pro-trans rights in this environment?

On our latest Bust Magazine blog, we’re raging and grieving in this heavy week of news. An elected official who stood for reproductive freedom was shot and killed. Abortion providers were named on a hit list.

one thing i think people should ask the court conservatives given this ruling is what, specifically, was wrong with plessy?
🚨By a 6–3 vote, the Supreme Court UPHOLDS Tennessee's ban on gender-affirming care for minors, concluding that it does NOT discriminate on the basis of sex, is not subject to heightened scrutiny, and survives rational basis review. All three liberals dissent. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

i'm kind of convinced atp that humankind will not be on the path to freedom until the day cis+heteronormativity is abandoned. until that happens we will have to deal with eternal legal challenges to women, queer+trans ppl, and also 300 articles/yr about "how can we make het sex Erotic again"

related as well to the broad idea that legislating trans people out of existence or mandating that they must live as their birth assignment will somehow make trans people disappear. nope, it just makes trans people's lives exponentially more difficult and vulnerable to violence
i can only repeat this so many times but similar to abortion the government cannot end gender transition medicine (for youth or otherwise), it can only increase the danger and precarity of the lives of those who access it. essentially no mainstream media recognizes this correct framing

And you know, it’s not that I expect a detailed understanding of Iranian history from westerners. Nor do I expect them to be up to date on the internal struggles of Iranians. But when you speak in a way that exposes gaps in when you care based on rhetorical convenience, I can’t not notice.
The notion that opinion of Western White Feminists has any significant contribution in convincing the average American to go to war in Iran (as opposed to national security, which is always at the center) is hilariously naive and I’m afraid this tweet is just anti-feminism.
