My issue with the phrase is I think it implies the existence of a "pure" masculinity that's the opposite of the toxic kind, which is often described in a way that 1) excludes queer masculinities, 2) genders generic positive traits, and 3) requires someone else in a subordinate "feminine" position.

Despite the good intentions, one thing that always annoys me in these 'advice to incels' columns is statements like "we want and deserve love" which is clearly referring to heteroromantic love.
I think that's the wrong verb. You don't *deserve* another person for romance anymore than you do for sex
