This whole thread about MacKenzie Scott’s grants (and criticism of them) v. other foundation funding is very good, and this point is central.
I've seen nonprofits fold because a foundation officer decided "I don't like the new ED" or "we're gonna fund this other thing" or "you didn't meet my exact outcomes" and even dumber reasons. Foundation funding isn't reliable, and it is far more headache than these checks Scott is giving out
