“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”

A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

Our new #beenome preprint is out! Protandrena passiflorae is a cool specialist pollinator that only visits Passiflora lutea, a subtle vine with small yellow flowers.

Ran across some great #entofashion yesterday at the consignment store…. They were sadly not my size. Has anyone else seen these before?!

Finally deactivated X/twitter.

My sleep schedule has been off and struggling - logged in at two am this morning and there were awful gruesome photos.

No thank you. And now I’m clearly not getting back to sleep.

Crossposted… Let’s do this again! I’ve read almost all the recommendations made the last few years (way more than 12!)

2025 BOOK CHALLENGE 🚨
Read 12 books recommended by 12 friends.

📕You can only make one recommendation and it should be a book you have already read and LOVE.

It’s true, god save our Normans
Normans form the foundations of knowledge for so many groups of life. For millipedes, our Norman here in the US was Leslie Hubricht, a snail specialist who collected many specimens and sent them to Richard Hoffman in Virginia. Hoffman named many species in honor of Hubricht.
I loved working on this story for @nzgeo.bsky.social—it's one of the few happy stories about the natural world that I've been able to write. A true delight.

Incredible pictures, too, by ocean photographer extraordinaire Richard Robinson: www.nzgeo.com/stories/the-...

No more flights scheduled for 2024 - so it’s annual flight stats time! Got most of my information loaded into a new app too.

Only two trips planned so far for 2025. need to get more things on the schedule 😅

Also why is it so cold outside? This is the south. It shouldn’t be 32f out! It’s too early in the year for my heat bill to be this high.
