Dating stats for 2025 so far

Over the last 10 months, I have been dating very intentionally to find a life partner. I can't control if/when this will happen, but I can control my own actions. I made a goal about how many dates to aim for in my bullet journal many months ago, but I've got out of…

Over the last 10 months, I have been dating very intentionally to find a life partner. I can't control if/when this will happen, but I can control my own actions. I made a goal about how many dates to aim for in my bullet journal many months ago, but I've got out of the habit of noting down how many dates and how many people I've been talking to on the apps.

Hiring Help, Part 4 – reflecting on the impact of blogging on the process

Great news - I HAVE A PA! I've had her for over a month. After all my years of struggle with finding someone, I was feeling low on confidence that she'd stick around, but now it feels that enough time has passed for it to feel like it's not going to jinx it if I say something. She's very communicative and gets on with all the tasks I throw at her.

An update on my journey of hiring a PA. Though I'm feeling frustrated a lot generally with my health, I do feel like I am engaged in the process. It is helping to be process-focused instead of results-focused.
Hiring Help, Part 3 (& ChatGPT)
Though I'm feeling frustrated a lot generally with my health, I do feel like I am engaged in the process of finding a PA. It is helping to be process-focused instead of results-focused. Even though of course ultimately I would just like to have a PA and for this process to be over and done with, being process-focused is helping me stay engaged and not get too discouraged.

Hiring Help, Part 2

Thanks to my last blog post, someone reached out to offer themselves for the position. We had a good interview, I gave her the role, and we were due to start this week. Unfortunately, she backed out a few days ago. Nearly every time I've given someone the PA job, they have…

Unfortunately, she backed out a few days ago. Nearly every time I've given someone the PA job, they have backed out. Here are the reasons I can remember people giving:

I have been struggling for years to get a PA. I have a bit of toxic shame about talking about it. It 'shouldn't be this hard' to just hire a PA. Last month I asked myself if I could change the process somehow.
Hiring Help: Finding a PA with Limited Energy
So, three things I hope to achieve with this blog: Share my story to help normalise disability narratives in our culture. Be more open about my disability to help myself work through my toxic shame in my limitations. Document the things I have learnt or am learning, to help myself value the work I have done to adjust to this radical lifestyle.

okay now that there’s a bunch of new people coming over from Facebook:

Go to Settings > Accessibility > turn on “always require alt text”

It’s a little bit of extra effort that enables people with visual or certain cognitive disabilities to feel welcome and partake in whatever you’re posting :)

I think that’s actually a true 100%.

If you’re sacrificing health then its over 100%.

At that point you’re giving your life to it (literally your life: your health, your lifespan) and so that’s over 100% effort.

Spoon theory/disability advocates made me reevaluate what 100% means.
I regret to inform you that all my life, whenever asked to put in 100% in whatever pursuit, be it school, work, deadlines, etc., I nearly always said "nah" and tapped out at 95% max.

It meant being passed over for recognition a lot but can't say I regret it since it always spared my sanity.
