Last night after covering the dahlias I double checked and the forecast had changed from light frost to hard frost, so mad dash to harvest a bunch of stuff that would survive one but not the other. And sure enough this am we woke up to a layer of ice and frozen dahlias.

Autumn in the Hudson Valley… is pretty incredible. The sunlight is like a kaleidoscope through the trees. Everything is turning early bc of drought. Unfortunately we’ve only had less than an inch of rain in a few months…

The flowers that bloomed when this genocide started are opening again, I remember crying my first tears for the children of Gaza… I don’t know how to describe this feeling. But for me these flowers will always bring back that sense of shock and sorrow the way a perfume makes you remember someone

If an oncologist outside Gaza can take a look and please get in touch that would be so helpful! I think they are hoping for a medical evacuation and I’m hoping to help connect them with right people who care and can advise. Their hospitals are overwhelmed & doctors starving. Here is a second angle

Please share! I got permission to share more details - this is a scan from 5 year old boy named Omar in Gaza, I am in touch with his aunt who shared these scans. Translation is definitely not perfect but they don’t know if the lump/mass is benign or malicious, if it’s isolated or penetrating upwards

This was my friend Bassem cleaning and placing flowers over his brother Omar who was one of the “aid” martyrs. He was shot in the head while trying to get food for his family. chuffed.org/project/1187...
A young Palestinian man named Omar in burial shroud, his mourning brother Bassem cleans his face and places red flowers on his corpse. Omar was one of hundreds killed at US Israeli “humanitarian aid” sites in May 2025 alone. Gaza has been under total seige since March.

I found these vintage lighters at an estate sale, and just polished them. They need new flint & fuel, but if they work I’m keeping them. Why don’t we make stuff like this that can be repaired/refilled?! The only things we make now are plastic lighters that get disposed of in the trash once done.

Today I took my husband to help me pick up these very heavy cast stone garden benches from FB marketplace. We loaded and un loaded these in the most humid weather but worth it bc they add so much character and function to these outdoor spaces.
