I consider being asked to provide a recommendation letter or serve as a reference a high compliment.

When my colleagues (current and former) ask me to do this for them, it demonstrates a high level of trust and respect. It also means that I had some sort of lasting impact on our relationship.

This journey was unplanned but goodness I’m grateful. It’s been four years of learning, growing, and connecting while serving schools and districts.

Thank you for being on this journey with me!

In Stop Asking “What Would I Do” and Coach More Effectively, participants worked on reframing their approaches to center the teacher. Participants responded positively in both sessions. Multiple people stopped me afterwards to share how much they enjoyed the sessions.

Over the past week, I presented at 2 events.

I facilitated a session at the Mebane Early Literacy Summit called The Text Matters. This session examined how to tease apart the skills our texts demand to then inform instruction. Participants’ improvement feedback was asking for more time!

The Mebane Early Literacy Summit was a great day of literacy learning and connecting for collective action. I was honored to rep TRL-NC and share a session about centering the text while planning for comprehension & making skills tangible. #ItTakesALeague

Imagine being hired for a job but chasing people down in order to do it. When coaching is opt-in and scheduled on a teachers’ own time, it leaves coaches in a bind. On one hand, they want to respect teachers’ time. On the other hand, they want to follow through with their work. #educoach

I LOVE coaching coaches. The days we get to meet and think through things together gives me joy! That’s why this feedback means so much - to know the time we’ve spent was relevant or meaningful is what matters. I will always try to honor an educator’s time.
