Of course OpenAI is losing money. Why would anyone pay thirty dollars per month for something they can get for five somewhere else? China has better models at a fraction of the price. And people can run their models at home on their GPU.

The general population has not violently rejected AI.

I'd wager it is better putting the effort to fight for Universal Basic Income and Universal Healthcare than it is to fight against a technology that has already taken over the planet.
