This is it. The "art" that makes me feel that icky pointlessness is always commercial, consumerist, and it says nothing. Say something! Feel something! Stop letting them suck all the life, the joy, the rage, the passion, the humanity out of your art. Feel something and then art about it.
I think this tension of “pointlessness” is firstly a side effect of global stress. but it’s also from years of submitting to the eye of the market, each of us making things to be consumed, to be liked, to feed ourselves by. we’ve got to fix the disconnect between our spirits and our art.
