repost this if an editor has ever saved you from yourself
An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

I celebrated prime day by ordering 5 books from Bookshop.org. Then, oops, remembered some other books I wanted and placed a second order. Still one day left for free shipping, so might order more tomorrow. Yay!

At that other place, there was a video of a young choir, arranged on a stairway, singing "What happens when she won't go back?" If I remember correctly. I haven't seen it show up here, but I would love to view it again if anyone has a link.

Major library booster here. When I moved to this small town, I planned to live here the rest of my life. So, when I joined the Friends of the Library I bought a Life Membership. Saves me from fee increases and the hassle of renewing.

Earlier this week, Bret Stephens, a house conservative at the New York Times wrote a particularly terrible piece titled “Done With Never Trump.” @therickwilson.bsky.social wrote a reply to Bret. Never Trump means Never Trump. If you agree, please share it widely.

My loved ones have strict orders not to use Amazing Grace at my memorial service (if I even have one.) Not sure why it seems to have become the go-to hymn for every funeral I see on the news, but it's not for me.
