I read a lot of books about running, and can I just say: Let's stop writing about Pheidippides. Really. He's been dead for thousands of years. Just let that poor man lie already.

Politics aside, some people mistake a change in their own subjective tastes and preferences for a change in the objective quality of things.

When I was younger, I hated cilantro. Now I like it. Did cilantro change? No, my palate did.

Am I a terrible person if I get really annoyed by prices at the Seward Coop? I mean, yes, I like that their staff is FT with benefits. But no, I don't like paying an extra dollar a pound for chicken

OK -- this is a long shot -- but does *anyone* have a copy of either of these two books about Lin Carter? (in the thread) They are hellishly difficult to find; I can't even find them from used sellers or on auction sites at any price!

Once when I was camping at Lake Maria SP, as I drank my morning coffee in a chilly dawn, six trumpeter swans flew over me, quite low, snowy and massive and so graceful, and it was one of the most beautiful things I'd ever seen.
It's such a thrill to see and hear trumpeter swans go by overhead.

The sky over Minneapolis tonight is incredible and very difficult to convey in a cell phone pic. The pink, green and blue across the heavens are slowly undulating, like a lava lamp.

In my job, I work with and along side Veterans. They’re not usually reaching out to us because something good is happening. Our conversations tend to be about how they believe someone is taking advantage of them, or that the VA system is too much of a mess to navigate. And they’re usually correct.
