Ironically, I joined BlueSky to have a back-up of information I had posted on Twitter in case I was banned from there. In the end, it was BlueSky who banned me. I now have to spend my time saving I anything of value that I posted here and not elsewhere.

I decided to version control comments from external websites referenced in my blog because we don't really need to make that many HTTP requests when building a static website

Thanks to @mtlynch.io for the inspiration!

Which meta tags are people actually using for SEO on their websites these days? OpenGraph? Twitter cards? Something else?

Why I will never write another HTML shortcode for sites like Bluesky, Twitter or Reddit again

I'm Done Writing Shortcodes for Other Websites
After reaching my limit with Hugo's constant breaking changes, I switched to Zola. As part of that migration, I decided to stop writing and fixing shortcodes for other websites, and instead just wrote...

One of the annoying things about migrating from Hugo to Zola was realizing that shortcodes for so many different commenting websites will always require upkeep

Since I save everything to @notado.app anyway, I decided to just create a shortcode for my saved highlights on Notado!

I’m not a tech person by any stretch.

I’m a creative person that just so happens to be good at coding, among other things.

I’ve resisted being a part of that culture because, in my experience, folks that are reasonably competent make it their whole personality.

But it’s just a tool.

Not everyone has the luxury of choosing the OS they use when they clock in to work, which is why it's important to try and meet people where they are, instead of denigrating them for things outside of their direct control

I apply this same heuristic to people who, having never independently built and maintained anything of consequence, insist that licensing your work in a way that reduces its Exchange-Value to 0, so that corporations can extract maximum Use-Value from it, is the only "right" way to license software

Migration from Hugo to Zola is looking good

* Shortcodes migrated
* Taxonomy front-matter annotations updated
* Color scheme customized

In the process of migrating away from Hugo to Zola, so far the experience is smooth, the biggest piece of work is translating my custom shortcodes from Go's insane templating language to Tera
