The key to good squad planning is not making decisions in isolation.
So if you look at your attack and think
- Salah has 2 more years in him
- Can Chiesa stay fit and play consistently in EPL?
- Jota severely injury prone, might be already lowering his ceiling
- Nunez, bad fit but we don't suffer

Okay so you would extend his contract and keep him into his 30's. Would that mean he would more permanently transition into the 9/false 9 role? Could you tell me your assessment of how Diaz performed in the 9 this season? What are his pros and cons? Would you continue using him there next season?

Parents would tell stories about Billy Liddell and that Liverpool were nicknamed Liddellpool when he played- an absolute legend. My Mum had a photo of him next to her bed! When I was 11 he handed out the trophies at a tournament and I met him! For Salah to pass his goal tally is just extraordinary!
