Trump’s DOJ is building a voter purge machine—powered by your private data

This is a remarkable article. Federal judges are increasingly speaking out against SCOTUS’s approach to the shadow docket. This isn't typical & underscores the impossible position for lower courts when SCOTUS makes new law on its emergency docket – especially when it doesn’t explain its rulings. /1
🚨EXCLUSIVE:

Federal judges tell NBC News the Supreme Court has got to do a better job of explaining emergency rulings, with frequent decisions in favor of Trump at least appearing to validate harsh criticism of the judiciary at a time of rising threats:

BIG WIN: A federal court just blocked key parts of Trump's executive order on voting purporting to require a passport or similar doc to register to vote. This was a huge & dangerous power grab-presidents don't get to rewrite election rules. And it could have thwarted millions of eligible Americans.

There are a lot of busy lawyers out there. Trump doesn't just issue an EO & that's it. There will be challenges, some of them lengthy, over legality & constitutionality. The Supreme Court gave him immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts, not omnipotence.

Presidents can't rescind it, because the Constitution expressly guarantees it. The Constitution's text reflects a basic American principle: Being born here comes with citizenship. Any executive order won't survive the court fights.
