Happy Halloween to all who celebrate!

I've been thinking about doing a multi-system review; I'm particularly drawn to games that do something exciting, unique, or masterful, and I'm thinking about tossing all my favourite mechanics into one video as a "Check out this awesomeness!" primer. Thoughts?

With how many isolated ideas I come up with but don't have a surrounding framework to slot into, you would think I would start to note them down in a big "Ideas" folder already for future use.

However, the twist: I have done so. Many times. I just keep forgetting it's there and not using it. T_T

This is one of the biggest and first tips I teach anyone I see trying to get into GMing— it's a healthy, more absolute extension of the more general, more malleable "Don't tell the players what their characters do.".
GM Tip:
Narrate failures through the competence of the PCs against a hazardous world.

They're a skilled thief, but the trap is rusted.
They have a glib tongue, but the guard is already being coerced.
They're strong, but even a giant couldn't lift this portcullis.

Welcome back to "So You Want to Make an RPG?"!

This episode: Burnout, scope creep, and how to actually achieve something!

Really proud of both this video and the system behind it, Expeditions RPG, which I hope to release at some point before I die of old age~

Even better?
It actually played well on a first draft-- Holy shit I did not expect that.

I'm gonna try to get a video out on this at some point.

Hey hey! I decided to sit down and put out whatever I got for my Starfinder 2e review 'cause I've been majorly stalling on it. It's been a difficult one to put together because I'm not one to be negative, but I have a lot of issues with the system and felt I need to share.

I don't know that this is fair— discussing design incentives in a game doesn't automatically then include an opinion about people who play the game.

Minecraft's design incentivises you to rush endgame. That doesn't mean everyone does or that those who don't are playing wrong, but it's still a fact.
It's always fascinating how when I call out the 'PF2e cares more about balance than fun' crowd for insinuating that people who like the game don't like fun, they backtrack to 'we're not talking about the people, just the game.'

It's like the RPG discourse version of 'it's just my opinion bro.'

I wanted to add an addendum and unofficial third segment to "The Good" and "The Bad", called "The Contrary"; comebacks to common criticisms I've seen levied at the game that I disagree with.

I'll add more as I see fit, but here's two to kick it off.
I'm almost all of the way through Silksong, and I figured I'd post my own mini-review, because I've been seeing a lot of (what i feel to be) unfair backlash to the game, something I want to vocalise my own pushback against.

I've got a couple projects brewing— I have some Pathfinder and Starfinder stuff to catch up on, and then I was recently exposed to HOLLOWS, a game with some extremely fun mechanics I want to talk about!

I inquired about the prospect of a review copy so I can put out something early, so stay tuned!

Status update:

I have a Battlecry!, Starfinder 2e Player Core, and a couple other videos in the works. I was hoping to get some of them recorded this week, but I've been sicker than a dog for going on 8 days now, and I'm only just starting to get my voice back.

So, look forward to those!

A grand return! No promises I'll be sticking to a schedule anymore, but I don't want to turn into one of those creators who uploads once a year. Check out Mothership with me! I've been branching back into the narrative RPG space and really enjoying it.

It's real!

I might take a couple days to actually put this out, depending on when I can fit the time in, but I properly sat down and recorded something usable for the first time in almost 3 months. I can't wait to release it for yall.

Hope you missed me~

Should be a new video within about a month— I have something exciting I want to share, but I unfortunately have to keep it under wraps for now~

In the meantime, take this photo. Thanks everyone!

I actually suggest doing this in my series on how to make an enjoyable boss—

I've found the sweet spot is to have extra high AC and saves for a creature of party level, average offensive options 3-4 levels higher, and about 50% more HP than recommended.

New video! Who said dropping weekly uploads meant I would disappear forever?

Mechanic and Technomancer are very interesting classes that seem to both have some small holes- But let's hear your thoughts!

Hey everyone! I think I have to make the call— no more regular schedule for my videos. Weekly was fun and possible for a while, particularly when I was able to just focus on my art. It gave me a schedule and an outlet. But now it's weighing on me like an obligation.

Won't be able to get a video together until at least Saturday! Don't be surprised when noon rolls around today.
