Plastics pollution exacerbates the impacts of all planetary boundaries
This paper proposes a way to understand plastics pollution on a global scale from a full life cycle: from material extraction to Earth system effects. We suggest a set of control variables based on how they affect the other processes in the planetary boundaries framework. We bring a precautionary approach and long time scale into the frame. The results show that plastics pollution has knock-on effects on other major environmental problems such as climate change and biodiversity loss, exacerbating their impacts.

Even if Norway dismantles the oil & gas industry, there is a need for new investment & there will be a lot of value creation (income).
Maintaining production at current levels requires massive investment in new areas & significant risk of stranded assets.

Turns out it's a lot — a peak of about $2.9 billion in 2021, which is more than enough to give a $7500 rebate to all of the battery EVs sold in 2023.
