Remember in May when Trump gave asylum to 17 family members of the Sinaloa cartel after making a deal with El Chapo’s son? And did you know in 2013, El Chapo bribed Juan Hernandez- who trump just pardoned - in exchange for protection in Honduras? I’m sure it’s all just a coincidence.

Hey, you 8 senators who gave up, you might think the “old way of doing things” was a way to get things done. But the old way of doing things is exactly what got us into this mess. Dems tried something new, it worked & even yielded great electoral wins last week. Pathetic. You should be primaried.

Do not help your opposition is politics 101. Do not help fascists who have turned government into a weapon against our people is human 101. So is, don't draw a line you claim represents your unwavering principles and hurl yourself across it.
Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

The Senate Democrats!

Simple right? Not if you’re the “own goal” Dems. Geez way to lose.
"What if, hear me out, we aligned with & helped pass the agenda of the people voters just rejected Tuesday and sports fans are booing?"

💯 it’s also because expertise can be trained to shine a spotlight on “feelings” to make them evaporate in the light of facts. Or put another way, expertise is threatening bec it’s the basis of, and leads to accountability.
To Trump supporters, expertise itself is proof of corruption. The more qualified you are, the more you must be part of “the deep state.”

It’s coordinated, purposeful dumb. It’s the De-Enlightenment: a deliberate inversion of the values that built modern society. open.substack.com/pub/thecycle...

Follow Sam Wang. Always insightful about the workings of gerrymandering.
Utah has a chance to dial down the gerrymandering wars. If legislators accede to the latest court ruling, they can break the partisan fever - and avoid disrupting state politics for the sake of just one Congressional seat.

My latest, in the Deseret News w/Dave Daley: www.deseret.com/opinion/2025...
Perspective: Keep Utah out of the gerrymandering wars
Research we’ve done at Princeton University shows that the best paths to a balanced and competitive map are an independent citizen commission or a court order — both of which are now at play in Utah.

UPDATE:

🌊 My colleagues at E&E News used FOIA to obtain a copy of that elusive NOAA report I wrote about. The one Trump used to pause construction of a New York offshore wind farm and bleed the wind company of almost $1B.

😱 All 27-pages they obtained were blacked out.

So important to set the frame correctly. Great advice.
On DC: When we say "crime is down" or "murder rate fell," we are bringing crime and murder top of mind. We have seen this backfire consistently. Say what you're for and have created, not what you fight and have eliminated.
Far better to say, "in DC we have proven solutions for safety..."

#MAGAMurderBill Call it what it is. Kills humans, kills jobs, kills progress…now call your senators and reps.
Everyone wanting to have their very own moniker for this bill means that even now, most voters have heard almost nothing about it. Obviously I am 100% partial but the name #MAGAMurderBill is what encapsulates this shit.

Consider donating to Friends of the Everglades and the Center for Biological Diversity. They’ve filed a federal lawsuit in U.S. District Court to try and stop “Alligator Alcatraz” before it opens.
