Only tangentially related, but FUN FACT, gang: At least 9 Japanese medical schools, including the illustrious Tokyo Medical University, have been caught CHANGING THE SCORES on admission exams to exclude female applicants for the last 20 YEARS.

This is real! It happened!

We owe it to ourselves to be unapologetically enthusiastic about the stupidest, dumbest shit without any explanation whatsoever. You like that film with the spaceships and the lasers? Hell yeah you do
I’ve sometimes fallen into the trap of thinking that complementing a creative person for their work is less sophisticated or desired than discussion or debate about it but very often the best thing you can say to them is hell yeah and that doesn’t make you dumb it just makes you nice

Boosting this again, Jean's legit & is one of the few academics who's been doing very important, very savvy research work on porn & porn games. Definitely make the time for this!
We are recruiting game makers affected by the 'NSFW' policy changes on Steam and itch.io for a survey. This survey is part of a broader project on the factors that shape the production, distribution, and consumption of porn games. More info about the project and survey at www.pppproject.com

also if the game gets popular enough it will create an audience for more games like this that deal with more upsetting themes more explicitly

by banning the game Valve and Epic have made the whole thing a lightning rod issue and given the game a ton of visibility. it's not big enough to affect them right now but it feels like in the long run it's opened a door they may really regret opening

Needless to say, no, I do not think it should have been banned. Steam banning it was bad enough, and for a scene not in the game, but reversals by Humble and Epic speak to a cowardly industry. There's worse in films and books I can buy from my local shops. It's disgraceful.

I highly suspect that a core of the issue is folks missing the entire point of the nudity. The "Horses" are depersoned, and the same way nobody would bat an eye at an animal being naked the game is making it a point that the "Horses" are being treated the same.
It is not lost on me that Horses is explicitly about the same sorts of generational puritanism and grooming that has sought to snuff it out.

So at this point, I am of the belief that there is a conservative group in the background emailing companies and trying to get them to ban the game.

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.
