A man was just chased and arrested outside of the Broadview ICE facility in Chicago. When legal observers from the National Lawyers Guild asked why, an agent threatened to arrest them too.

What they want is Dems to join them in dabbling their fingers in the blood.

There are absolutely no circumstances under which anybody loyal to the Constitution should vote to fund a government controlled by Donald Trump. They are covering their own asses by demanding that line not be clearly drawn.
Democrats should never vote to fund a government that's waging war on its own citizens and firing officials *because* they insist on following court orders instead of breaking the law. Let Senate Republicans nuke the filibuster. None of this is normal and it shouldn't be treated as such.

New in PN: You cannot trust the federal government

"The FBI has proven it can’t be trusted to provide narrative-free evidence to the public. This is par for the course for the rest of the govt under Trump, which can’t be trusted at all because everything in it exists only to serve Dear Leader."
You cannot trust the federal government
Everything they say should be assumed to be a lie.

Gosh, I wonder who picks fresh vegetables.
ICYMI, the eye-popper in today's PPI: a 39% rise in wholesale fresh vegetable prices.

It's the largest month-on-month increase ever recorded in the summer (data to 1947), and one of the ten largest ever, regardless of season.

Veggie-flation strikes, with a warning for grocery prices
No matter what the official data shows, consumers "feel" inflation when grocery prices rise.

This list tells you: (1) very little diplomatic spadework went into this (no surprise with Trump); (2) very little diplomatic implementation effort will come out of anything; (3) it's about money and theater; (4) U.S. diplomacy as we knew it is dead.
The US delegation for the Trump-Putin Summit in Anchorage later.

Don’t know how far down the alphabet we need to go to name this team.

This year I'm examining my roots and slowly getting back to writing. Here's a piece on what my parents left me posthumously. I hope you enjoy it.

What my parents left for me to find
For months now I have been watching as democracy wobbles like a roller coaster. Only this isn’t a game, it’s real. People are already dying, already suffering. Intergenerational trauma of epic prop…

I hope you enjoy this piece, written when I had just turned 22 in 1978. For two days that winter I got stuck on the Blackfeet Reservation in a home where healing was happening. I am truly grateful to have this experience in my memory pool. It helps right now.

Early January 1978On a quiet and listless night at the hotel, a friend showed up and asked if I would like to accompany him to Heart Butte the next day. I didn’t have to think twice to say yes Hear…

This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source.

Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

Choose Democracy was great--ready to stand up and take action early yesterday morning when most activist organizations were still digesting the news. We don't always win when we fight, but we never do when we don't. And we won this one. For now. On to the next.
