De Nederlandse politiek zit al 36 jaar in een slingerbeweging. Lange periodes van brede, richtingloze middencoalities worden afgewisseld door korte oprispingen van instabiel bestuur met radicaalrechts.

Ja21, de PVV en Forum voor Democratie blijven in zetelaantal nagenoeg gelijk ten opzichte van de verkiezingen van 2023. Wilders behaalt het op twee na beste verkiezingsresultaat ooit.

The far right is about as large as in the 2023 elections, but the seats are divided differently amongst them. This makes the position of the PVV arguably somewhat less influential (but still a big party), but not the presence of far right politics in the Netherlands.
With the official prognosis giving one additional seat to PVV and one to FvD compared to the ext poll, the narrative should really not be that the Netherlands/Jetten has beaten the radical right. The far right bloc remains remarkably stable.

Sterker nog, inmiddels kunnen we ook BBB wel tot het radicaalrechtse blok rekenen, en de VVD staat er ook met één teen, dan wel één been in. Het blok is gegroeid en het raam van Overton is een stuk naar rechts verschoven.

🗳️ 🇳🇱 The big takeaway from the 2025 Dutch elections (aside from the consolidation of the far right) is fragmentation. Only mid-sized parties remain: the largest wins just 27 seats (based on exit polls) - which is under 20%. Forming a majority government will, once again, be a challenge.
Remarkable is that the largest party has never been so small with just 27 seats. Previous record low: 31.
