I’m a public defender from California’s great redneck interior. I fight the good fight to stand up for people’s constitutional rights when it’s not popular or sexy to do so.
It’s disgusting that so many people in this country worship the rich while they disdain the poor. Even worse when you consider the number of so-called “Christians.” And things are going to get worse until we get rid of Trump and shake off the grifters that are taking our $ with nothing in return.

Now that Trump has “saved” Tik Tok from the evil commies in China, he’s going to turn it into the video arm of Truth Social. Irony of ironies that goes from being a tool of the communists to being a tool of the facists. It’s also an ominous sign of the right’s consolidation of power over the media.

If they win it will be because the Supreme Court rolled over and let Trump do whatever he wants. If the executive can do whatever he wants, there’s no rule of law, only rule by a person, which our Founders wanted to prohibit. They’re letting Trump rewrite our Constitution with every provocation.
This civil war will be different, because this time we will win.

This is the exact problem with the news media in general these days and a major reason we have Trump now. They’ve let the right in this country bully them into refusing to call a spade a spade. NYT would have happily both sides the Holocaust if it had been happening today…
Rolling Stone needs to be the country’s paper of record after this mess.

Not enough attention is paid to the fact that the Roberts Court has done more to destroy our democratic republic than any other Supreme Court in the history of the United States.

This is an assault on the Reconstruction Amendments by a Neo-Confederate Court wedded to the far-right argument that those amendments were illegitimate and destroyed the original intent of the Founders, which was to create a white man's country

This is the basic problem with the Democratic Party now. The neoliberals want to keep their death grip on party power and $$$$ at any cost. They’d rather loose to Trump than win with the likes of Bernie, Mamdani and AOC. Starting to think the party needs to be crushed and rebuilt from the ground up.

Kinda funny how the Biden dementia scandal was taking the heat off Trump for awhile. If he had just played his cards right, he could’ve had the Senate pass his big beautiful turd bill under the cover darkness nobody probably would have paid attention with all the squabbling over Jake Tapper’s book…

Trump and Musk went from happily exploiting each other to mutually assured destruction in about 24 hours. It shows that two malignant narcissists can never be friends. They always need someone to dominate, they can never be on equal terms. Elon tired of being the junior partner…

I don’t like revenge porn but it’s ironic that a man who disclosed state secrets (and the private conversations he had with his one time friend and collaborator, Chelsea Manning, without her permission) is now crying foul over someone posting an embarrassing sex video he made on the internet…
The words "Glenn Greenwald sex tape" appear nowhere in the Constitution.

I was taught the U.S. would easily beat any communist country. Now China has thousands of miles of high speed rail and is building an economy based on flying cars and trucks. And we can’t seem to build anything. The jokes on us- we lost, the commies won.

I think this explains a lot of what’s wrong with people who support Trump these days: they don’t have anything good to fight for in life because life is pretty good here so they’re going to ruin it for everyone else..

What a shock to hear of Pope Francis’s passing. As Catholics, we get used to the comings and goings of the popes as they are but temporary leaders of an eternal church. But Francis was really someone special. He was the first Pope I can remember who was always smiling or giving a friendly wave…
Pope Francis, who died today at 88, was the antithesis of a strongman. “He was the model of the world leader as a shrewd, searching, and practical man who faced hard choices in vexing circumstances, and responded humbly,” @paulelie.bsky.social writes.

While the gospels say that Judas led the Romans to Jesus, a new theory is gaining traction with some Biblical scholars. There is evidence, some say, that Judas merely shared Christ's location on an insecure group chat that accidentally included several Roman officials and journalists.
