Not talked about enough: Trump Executive Order 14253 demanding museums remove "improper ideology" is comparable to Gleichschaltung (Nazi cultural purge). Both use state power to enforce a single, "pure" historical narrative and silence critical voices. The function is autocratic control over truth.

Critics & former officials compare Trump's ICE tactics—masked agents, unmarked cars, aggressive enforcement—to a "secret police" or "Gestapo." The core question: Is ICE becoming an unaccountable, political "goon squad?"

Calls for transparency & accountability are growing. #ICE #Trump

I continue to be disturbed by the number of people unaware of what is happening in our country. Surprisingly, the Times does an excellent job summarizing it in this piece. Read and share widely. Discuss with friends. Don't remain complacent. #authoritarianism www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

"What separates democracy from authoritarianism, the rule of law from lawlessness and a decent society from an indecent one is not just the goal but the process. The govt can, and should, reduce illegal immigration, but do so in a way that upholds American ideals." www.nytimes.com/2025/10/27/o...

Power consolidation continues: House is closed, SCOTUS enables Executive. The systemic crisis is not the Constitution, but political actors neutralizing checks. Autocratic creep stops only when the military or judiciary refuses an unconstitutional order, hitting a structural veto. #autocracy

Kim Davis is entitled to freedom of speech, as are we all. However, her use of a public office to deliberately hurt people by robbing them of fundamental rights has nothing to do with freedom of speech. She is a symbol of the evil of American radical right-wing christianity.

The true historical parallel for #Project2025 is the Nazi's 1933 Civil Service Law. Both documents detail administrative takeover: Purging the government of non-partisans (Schedule F) to destroy independent oversight and concentrate absolute power. It’s a blueprint for legalistic backsliding.

How can the U.S. claim the moral authority to pursue regime change in Venezuela for "undermining democracy" when our own democratic institutions are under sustained attack at home? It's the definition of hypocrisy.

When asked if the president had a comment on the demonstrations, Abigail Jackson, a White House spokeswoman, gave a brief response in an email, “Who cares?” she said.

As long as he has majorities in both houses and the Supreme Court, nothing will change. We need everyone to VOTE.

Pritzker: Throughout history we've learned that tyranny doesn't arrive with dramatic proclamations. Most times it comes quietly wrapped in the language of law and order, with fingers pointed at someone who doesn't look like you, promising safety while demanding that we sacrifice our neighbors.

While the Speaker's official reason is the government shutdown, the prevailing belief is that he is using his procedural power to block a politically inconvenient vote that Grijalva's swearing-in would trigger.

We call this the Epstein maneuver.
