✨ One win at a time!

Our Dutch partner @vogelbeschermingnl.bsky.social just won a court case to protect more seabirds at the Bruine Bank/Brown Bank in the North Sea! 🌊

More species will now receive legal protection in this critical foraging and migration zone. A big win for seabirds and science.

Astonishingly good news from the Chinese State Oceanic about coastal conservation brings great hope that the extinctions of waterbird species, such as spoon-billed sandpiper and great knot, that were beginning to seem inevitable, can actually be averted http://bit.ly/2DyIzTL

Save here to remember to read; from my old-time experience this is much more on the individual / pair choices. But ok, curious if it is different: doi.org/10.1002/ece3...

The reason why the Guillemot's egg is shaped as it is, is a myth 😉 The real reason is even more interesting.

A Mountain Bluebird that showed up on Cape Sable Island, NS, the first winter we were here, January 2015. None since, which is hardly surprising given their normal range. #Birds #Birding #Birdwatching #Novascotia

Chirpy House Sparrows took 1st place as 2024's most spotted BGBW bird.
