Being privileged enough to not need to own a car, I forget about the discourse around gas prices. But honestly, that shit is still too cheap for the havoc that automobiles wreak on the planet

Yep. I think a lot about "pinch" the concept I first learned from mobile game design that by making something inconvenient, you can charge people to make that inconvenience go away. And once you learn to spot pinch in all aspects of society, you can't unsee it.
Nothing works. Airlines. Making movies. College. Retirement. Mass transit. Medicine. Housing.
Everything is a scam, or on its way to becoming a scam.

I needed something to decompress with, so I read Abner Dean's WHAT AM I DOING HERE?, which is an utter gem. Dean's artwork is gorgeous, with a crispness that has barely aged 76 years after publication, and his cartoons are an absolute delight with a perfect tonality to them.

I’m a pretty strong First Amendment guy, but there’s a true threats exception, and there should be, and threats should be vigorously investigated and prosecuted. Bring down the hammer hard on more of these people./1
