I don’t know who needs to hear this, but my book was rejected by 98 literary agents before I found one who would represent me. Whatever it is just keep trying.

Love getting my writing done for the day. Love that I feel like I've accomplished something and been productive.

Hate that I have to do it all over again tomorrow otherwise the Bad Feelings are gonna Get Me.

Tomorrow, a certain online mega-retailer launches a book sale, just days before Indie Bookstore Day on 4/26. This is no coincidence; Bookstore Day is one of the largest revenue drivers for indies.

Indies need our support to thrive & build community spaces for all...mega-retailers do not.

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve come up with a new name/title/terminology by misspelling a word and going “wait… that’s a fantastic idea.” #writer #booksky #author

I grew up on a diet of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark... I swear these vines covering a lamppost in Wroclaw, Poland are straight out of my childhood nightmares.

It’s bad when you write primarily horror and your made-up worlds feel more comforting and stable than the real one you live in.

Hi.

Books are incredibly important.

Please let them be.

I had to confess to my editor that my dark-o-meter is skewed since I was raised on Stephen King and VC Andrews #booksky #writing #writers #darkfiction

Also, libro.fm is great for audiobooks.
bookshop.org - great deals and gives profits to bookstores
kobo.com - great for e-reading, not ecosystem locked
itch.io - by far the biggest payouts to artists and writers
"I want to keep boycotting Amazon, but I also want to support indie authors. How do I do that?"

Many indie authors have their books on Barnes & Noble & Kobo! There are also places like Smashwords & Campfire that are almost all indie books! Itchio now has a THRIVING LGBTQ Indie Book Scene.

Write your story as if it’s the reader’s second time. Assume they know all the backstory and exposition, and just tell it. Act as if they already understand without you holding their hand.

Absolutely works. Best advice I’ve ever been given (and I wish I remember who said it). #booksky #writing

I just finished @scribeofhades.bsky.social’s THE REDEMPTION OF MORGAN BRIGHT and it will live in my head for a while. Especially as someone who has frequent hypnagogic hallucinations, the spooky sleep events hit close to home!

Excellent book, I’ll be thinking about it for a long time.

I hate how I see an interesting picture or video (and now, video games) and I have to stop and go “Is this AI?” before I can enjoy it

Not only do I feel constantly crazy by having to question everything I see and figure out if it’s REAL or not, it’s just exhausting

I envy folks who can plot out a story. Can't imagine not being in constant terror of not knowing what comes next until I write it. #writing #booksky #newauthor

Hey disabled writers on Bluesky! Reply to this post with either:
1. The publication you're proudest of, something that's cool about it, and a link to read it.
~OR~
2. Something you love writing about. Can be the minutia of motorcycle repair, or as simple as "Dragons."
