Thanks John Roberts!
Q: On the pardon of Changpeng Zhao, Binance has significant business interests with World Liberty Financial, the president family's crypto company. How do you respond to criticisms that this is a corrupt act?

LEAVITT: I would respond and say the president is exercising his constitutional authority

It’s one of the few honest things she’s ever said: this President doesn’t give a single solitary fuck about Americans who are suffering due to his greed and corruption. They’re literally beneath his notice. Only his gold-plated fascist clubhouse matters.

Well, and golf, obviously.
24 million Americans are about to see their health insurance premiums double.

40 million Americans are about to see their SNAP benefits expire.

But I'm glad to her he's fully focused on his ugly-ass gold ballroom.
Leavitt: "At this moment in time, of course, the ballroom is really the president's main priority."

Fall 2025 feels like it begins today. Meetings, scoring, class prep. Goodbye, summer—I can’t say I’m sad to see you go this time around.

One upside of being a little older and (finally) knowing myself a little better is that I’m quicker to realize when I just can’t do
something. And when I tap out, there’s no
residual guilt or shame attached.

I admire you endlessly, Mark, but I can’t take it on faith that what you’re saying here is going to happen—as comforting and encouraging as it would be to do that. I don’t see much evidence right now that we make it out of this. MAGA is a death cult.
We the people will have the last word.

The fight has just begun...
Today proves that Republicans were serious about one promise: to cut taxes for the wealthy. All the rest was bullshit.

To combat the actual downfall
Of America, Hakeem Jeffries invokes the immortal power of… homophones. 🙄
Jeffries: "You got some people in the town who go to church and pray on Sunday, and then they come to Congress and prey on the American people. I'm not down with that kind of faith. That's not the faith that comes out of the Gospel."

There is no way we will be hosting the Olympics or the World Cup. Why would any country willingly put their people through this?

Authors, if you see this, it's a sign to post the first line of your book.

As Storm Eowyn blasts the British Isles (and seeing all the airport closures) it reminds me: Airlines need to come up with a WAY better, more comprehensive procedure and infrastructure for handling flight delays and cancellations than what they have now.

“Exceptional” weather is becoming the norm.

Bad day to show up early for a get-together. Currently sitting in my car, waiting it out until it’s socially acceptable to arrive. Current temperature (before wind chill): 3 degrees (F; -16 C)

That momentary feeling of total freedom that starts when you look at your calendar and see *nothing* scheduled after 11 a.m.—and ends when you look at your general ‘must do by the weekend’ list.

Conducting the ensemble for a composition recital tonight (not mine). Currently waiting to go on. Sound has been checked; rough spots have been smoothed. Looking forward to it being an hour from now, when my weekend will be well underway.

Been a minute. Here’s a good one of the cat to make up for it.

As the last few days of the year trickle away, at some point you realize those last few items on your to-do list just aren’t getting done. It’s like a little time-management bankruptcy that happens every December.

Heroic amounts of caffeine going into my system at the moment. With any luck, this will be the last 16-hour day for a while. (If I make it through.)

Everyone is doing their 2023 Year in Review, so here’s mine: Tree hit my house in February; I repaired, remodeled and sold it. Spent several months in Las Vegas while all that was happening… (cont’d.)

Talk about being known by the company you keep. Wow.
Grim shit.
