Not all immigrants are asylum seekers of course, but the question remains: why is empathy so lacking for the small minority who are asylum seekers? That’s what scares me the most.

As if adaptation - moving entire populations, transitioning natural and food systems, upgrading public services and infrastructure, changing our financial system and dealing with huge economic costs - is some sort of easier route.

Every country has a powerful right wing that argue “if you tax the wealthy, they’ll leave”
We need to start calling their bluff.
We need to make it so the ultra wealthy either contribute enough to be a positive part of society, or be globally shunned and unable to extract further funds from us.
