Having lots of things to do close to where you live discovered as being incredibly good and cool, actually.
It shouldn’t be forgotten that a big piece of Mamdani’s campaign was simply “cities are cool and lots of people enjoy living in them” which in and of itself dismantles alot of rightwing talking points

We've had increasingly right-wing governments for 15 years here, and it seems that the Dutch voters think they will solve their problems by voting right even harder.
If you think British politics are nuts right now, in the Netherlands – where on Wednesday an election will be held – two members of the far-right PVV, likely to be the biggest party, have been running a Facebook page where they post AI-generated propaganda against immigrants and other politicians.

show this to anyone else you know who also assumed DHH was just a normal conservative dude rather than a raging white supremacist lunatic
DHH Is Way Worse Than I Thought | jakelazaroff.com
DHH's politics are not normal. Maybe they used to be, I don't know, but as of right now the dude is_way outside of what most people would consider moral or acceptable.

People love to say Rails has a DHH problem, which is true, but React has a Gizmo Rauch problem

Online used to exist only in a box in a room in your house, we called it a desktop computer and it was the only way to access it. Now the internet is in our pockets all the time and madness has ensued.

obviously it’s a real problem that young men are getting their brains cooked online on the regular but like, I was there in second life when the goons threw a farewell party for saddam hussein and I am, and I know this is going to sound like a lie, pretty normal. there’s got to be an x factor here

So after more than 10 years I cancelled my spotify subscription.

I didnt use it to listen to podcasts but my subscription over time had been paying the likes of Joe Rogan, Harry & Megan and the Obamas rather than the aryists I'd signed up to listen to.

I was running a few months ago and got stuck chatting to a bloke who had spent the previous day in a cafe talking to chatgpt.

In the course of the conversation the chatbot told him that he felt sadness and the man took this at face value and uncritically repeated it to me.

Given what we know about the typical media consumed by a 68 year old white man in Britain, they might be better off keeping to themselves?
Among the many oddities is this paragraph. If you try and “share a joke” with a stranger at a bus stop, then *you* are the person who has failed to even remotely integrate into London life. It’s the first rule anyone learns.

Big to start work and find Jest 30 had been released last week. While I wouldn't pick it for a new project, the upgrade was quick and painless given there has been years since the last release

Playing with building react native apps is great but doing a clean build basically maxes out all 16 cpu cores and I'm probably two/three months away from justifiably buying myself a new laptop that should crush this work

The toilets at my work are gender neutral and it turns out that the general population are in fact completely capable of being fucking normal about it, apart from the rabid followers of a children's author whose books they never grew out of.
