@leecparton.bsky.social
Environmental economist at Boise State University. I am all in on non-market valuation, land use and spending my time skiing and mountain biking with the family. I’m unashamedly addicted to improvisational music of almost any variety.

Apparently my vintage brought us the adjustable rate mortgage, the California roll and “smoke and mirrors.” This all checks out.
Okay, I’m in love with this tool that lets you look up words from the year you were born. It turns out I’m the same age as “snail mail,” “text message” and “skanky.” 😳 www.merriam-webster.com/time-travele...

interesting comment on how the intended audience of a paper (adaptation vs mitigation) may influence the research design and framing of the results:

The Tension in Climate Science Between Mitigation and Adaptation
A fight over whether climate science is taking political positions is really about whether eliminating fossil fuels is more important than adapting

To those teaching/applying econometrics: Remember that almost any cross-sectional estimation method can be applied to panel data. I still see confusion on this point. For example, "fracreg does not allow for panel data." One needs to cluster of course. And the Mundlak device is usually warranted.

Hello #econsky!
I am an associate professor at UNC Greensboro studying (mostly) health economics. My recent work has been around using human mobility data to study reproductive health and public health policy. But be on the lookout for more work around higher education policy!

Hi all! I’m a PhD candidate 📣on the market 📣this year. I study the criminal justice system and labor market in the US.
Beyond research, I enjoy singing, cats, glassblowing, reading, and bad TV (you’ll see in my JMP thread how this last hobby became a research question!).
