In Raleigh there were several opportunities in tech and healthcare for internships, SAS comes to mind. I would recommend applying to the pathways program at a local govt agency if that is on the table.

I create SQL databases for some county assessor data and PATSTAT. It makes it easier to update the data, automate processes and reconstruct datasets when I need additional variables from the data. Also, having consistent queries written to load data across platforms is good for my brain.
