Academia is not set up to make us feel good about ourselves. Lots of folks evaluating us constantly, anonymously or IRL: colleagues, peers, reviewers, students. You are better than you think you are!

Finding the right outlet for your work is only half the challenge. Selling that match to the reviewers is an entirely separate issue. What small steps can you take in your work to help them realize the connection you made to that outlet?

Sunday Planning Time! Synch all your calendars for the coming week. Then book some explicit time for you: a mani or pedi, time in a cafe with a book, lunch with a friend, an evening alone with a videogame. Whatever makes you happy!

Self-Care Saturday! Self care includes keeping your space in a condition that your brain & body can accept. Bubble baths are great unless the tub is gross, or you're out of bubble bath. Clean the shower or tub this weekend, or check the status of your cleaning products. What's almost out?

A book coach is your book’s advocate! I help you make choices about your book with confidence: structure, evidence, organization, presses, you name it! If the process is opaque, or you want support in helping your book shine, a coach can help you get there.

Elsa got something right: "Let it go." Live in the current moment as much as you can. You can only control your own behavior and thoughts. My pups close their eyes, put their heads down a moment, and then they're up and ready go to again.

Self-Care Saturday! Make sure you’ve got a solid plan for breakfast this week. It doesn’t need to be much, but you should eat something! Yogurt, a granola bar, or an egg go a long way toward fueling your body.

Don't forget to feed your inner geek! You came to academia because you've got a driving internal curiosity. Make sure you nourish that with unrelated-to-work geekiness on a regular basis. Help pique someone's curiosity today by sharing a quirky fact with us! What makes you go Hmm?

People are reading YOUR work to see what YOU have to say. Where you must discuss literature - and you must - be sure that its relationship to your research question and/or answer are clear!

Purple People take Marseille: I am apparently allergic to the south of France at this time of year. But it's beautiful nevertheless.

Overwhelmed by a too-long To Do list and facing decision paralysis? DON'T DECIDE. Let the world decide for you. Number the top 6 things and roll a die or ask a random number generator. Do whatever it lands on for 15-25 min, take a 5 min break, & repeat until you have momentum or feel accomplished.
