Is there a link between salmon farming and these outbreaks of dinoflagellates? I don’t know but the timelines suggest they might.
Came across red-tide bands today on the outer side of Bruny Island. It’s a dinoflagellate called Noctiluca scintillans, & it’s bioluminescent. It first appeared in 1994, probably transported in warm water incursions of the East Australian Current. So it’s a climate change thing. 1/
