Prime Minister Carney’s claim that his government is maintaining an arms embargo on Israel is not true. Canada continues to funnel weapons to Israel through the United States.

Genocide Convention of 1948, to which Canada is a signatory, requires the prevention and punishment of genocide. We filed a case against the Canadian government in November to hold Canada accountable for failure to prevent genocide in Gaza.

It is Mother’s Day in much of the Arab world today. But this week, Palestinian mothers are living the worst nightmare imaginable, with 200 children in Gaza killed by Israel since March 17th. Canada must act now to fulfill it’s duty under international law to prevent genocide.

Canada’s failure to act to prevent genocide not only breaches international law but also charter rights. Canadian-Palestinians like the plaintiffs in our case, Hany and Tamer, have seen their rights continuously violated.
