Rewatched Stargate the movie recently. The SFX hold up *incredibly* well, really this movie looks amazing. Awesome soundtrack too. Cool action too! And then the plot and dialogues are *so so dumb*. I cannot understand how grown up adults wrote a movie so stupid.

French publishers sadly have a history of not showing much respect for the activity of translation. If it's not a famous classic, I always find French translations to be mediocre at best, because the translator is never payed enough nor given enough time to do a proper job.

I watched this expecting a fairly tame drama. I wasn't ready for this level of sass, backstabbing and sadistic cruelty. Not a drop of blood is shed and yet more murders are committed than in an entire season of Game of Thrones.
