Research found that people on the #autism spectrum with low intellectual disability were over 3 times more likely to die by #suicide compared to people not on the autism spectrum.

These are people facing loneliness and invisible hardship that deserve more personal and systemic compassion
Suicide rate higher for people with autism
UQ-led research has found people on the autism spectrum are almost 3 times more likely to die by suicide compared to non-autistic people.

Supporting these concerns.
2/ intersectionality, and human rights. My stance on ABA is rooted in years of research, lived experience, and professional insight. Most autistics who are forced to conform especially Black autistics, do so because they’re forced to mask. 🎥 👆🏾

If the President doesn’t want the job he has, that’s fine (and frankly better for us), but he just doesn’t get to outsource it to a random billionaire from South Africa.

As a #mentalhealth organization whose purpose in part is to #decolonize the laborious, encumbered diagnosis process so that treatment and diagnosis are more available to, and appropriately dispersed among underserved and neglected populations, this is a critical perspective to center with #autism.
Increased autism rates are due to better screening & expanded criteria—PLEASE be critical of misinfo efforts by the incoming administration: "[autism] diagnosis is increasingly happening at younger ages. And there’s been more awareness & advocacy for Black & Hispanic families too."

What's behind rising autism rates: A broader definition of autism and better screening
President-elect Donald Trump seemed to entertain the discredited theory that vaccines cause autism as he answered questions from journalists Monday at his Mar-a-Lago club

Autism and ADHD are -severely- under-diagnosed in girls/women, and black and hispanic kids/adults. So white guys trying to define it by some extremely suspect "I don't have any empathy, therefore I'm spectrummy" is very bad.
