I wouldn’t say the tone of the film is cynical but people hoping to watch a traditional rom com were probably uncomfortable. I loved it because it felt realistic.
I am enjoying the cynicism vs the overly enthusiastic party celebrating Lucy’s matchmaking skills in the beginning.
