In the first 9 months of 2025, utilities have requested or received approval for a total of $34B in rate increases, more than double the $16B during the same period in 2024

The hardest hit states are in the South

Trump said he would cut energy prices in half within a year

He lied
I don't care as much about individual Dems as I do about the Democratic agenda

If some "squishy" Dems are not prepared to fight, let's primary them (looking at you, Schumer, Fetterman)

We need Dems who are not afraid of power and are willing to use it

@rokhanna.bsky.social is one of them

Trump pardoned Rudy Guiliani and others involved in trying to overturn the 2020 election

Because, of course he did.

The most corrupt president in history, hands down.

Assume all the yes and no votes from Dem senators are strategic and not sincere votes. The party caucus made a decision. No way to know how many were in favor. Then the caucus decided who would vote yes and no based on what would protect each of them politically the most. That’s how this works.

This is the message of a failed, feckless, and leaderless party. We need a party with backbone, and the only path to it is through a cleansing primary season. If your Dem is up for reelection, and you aren't damn sure they're fighting the fascists with everything they've got, primary the bastard.

None of the senators who voted to cave are up for election next year

If you think this was not Schumer-engineered, you are not paying attention

Dems needed a fired-up base for a face-saving win in an off-year election

They got what they wanted from the shut down
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

Meanwhile, Trump's regressive regime just withheld approval for Esmeralda 7 project, “We will not approve wind or farmer destroying [sic] Solar,” he posted on Truth Social

More Americans believe the government is doing a poor job on the economy NOW than during recessions, stagflation, and a pandemic

We know the deck is stacked against average Americans
November 9, 2025 at 12:05 PM
Voters know that Trump’s promise to lower prices was just another scam

His tariffs and deportations have driven prices higher

The continued insistence by Trump and his minions that the economy is great and that prices are down adds insult to injury

People believe their own eyes
Trump may become the face of a deteriorating economy, a year after such worries helped him win
Voters have sent a message to President Donald Trump that the economy doesn't feel as though its booming — despite what he says.

Republicans refused because Trump insisted they must not negotiate.

Colorado voted to increase taxes on any individual making more than $300K to give kids in the state free school lunches

If there are excess funds raised, they will go towards funding SNAP in the state

It turns out that feeding kids is popular

At least in some states

The prize for doublespeak goes to Trump’s pathetic Solicitor General John Sauer

When Justices suggested that Trump’s tariffs infringe on Congress’s right to levy taxes, Sauer declared “they are not revenue-raising tariffs”

That’s an impossible position because of Trump's own social media posts

From G. Elliott Morris in Strength in Numbers - the best explanation I have seen for why Dems won big last night:

"[T]he best explanation for 2025 is that voters didn’t know what they were getting with Trump 2.0 last November, but now they do — and they don’t like it."
