I’m teaching a grad class on K12 Education Policy this summer. It’s only taught once every three years, so it’s time for an update. What should future education leaders know about all the changes that are going on? I’m looking for academic articles, long reads, book chapters, videos, etc. Thanks!

I’ve decided that I feel grief. I’ve used and studied modeling methods with NCES data since 1992. That’s 33 years. I’m sorry for all of those grieving with me, especially for those who have lost their livelihoods with it. It’s just wrong.

Oh, and here’s my answer. Thank you, AERA.
AERA has just learned that all restricted-use NCES data licenses will be cancelled, possibly as early as March 20. We urgently request that all AERA members and others in the research community with restricted-use licenses take these two actions: www.aera.net/Research-Pol...

So, a question: for those entities that hold restricted data licenses with an MOU signed w NCES, this SSO wants to know: 1) is it now a free-for-all with these data? Or 2) you should use cease and desist any analysis because there is no longer a suppression review approval mechanism?

Thinking of all those educational researchers who may find themselves unemployed soon. I hope this could be a silver lining of the #EduSky storm.
One more I would add for those who are out of work and used to teach. Apply for a leave replacement teaching job. It is a way to help temporarily, even substitute teachers are needed. I did a #schoolpsych leave replacement in 2023 and it changed my thinking for the better. It was a midlife gap year.
