Community support needed after fire devastates nonprofit Furniture Bank warehouse
The Atlanta Fire Department douses flames at the Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta's warehouse on Murphy Avenue on June 18, 2025. (Provided) A devastating fire at the Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta has left the nonprofit scrambling to supply needy families with furnishings and household goods. A June 18 electrical fire destroyed the 15,000 square foot warehouse on Murphy Avenue in Southwest Atlanta and its contents, including a large donation of beds and dressers from the University of Georgia, meant for families in metro Atlanta.

It’s not deporting, if you’re sending citizens to another country. It’s human trafficking. In this case, it’s also slave labor. You’re talking about an administration selling US citizens into slave labor.

I love many of my funding peers but I have been facilitating meetings with them for over a year and a half to create a new coalition and they still haven’t #cutthecheck.
💥 Stop micromanaging. Stop underfunding. Stop cutting corners.
Overhead isn’t a luxury—it’s the backbone of the work. If you're not covering salaries, infrastructure, and mental health support, you're not funding the movement—you’re burning it out.
