If my PhD institute wanted to ask grad alum for money, maybe don’t make all your marketing and asks about medical students.
No, I would NOT like to sponsor a stethoscope even though I’m a College of Med alum. I’d love to sponsor a PhD white coat though……

Truly, with my whole chest, the roots of my core, the depths of my heart, WHAT. THE. FUCK.
Another unvaccinated child dies from measles, a fully preventable disease, and only the second child to die from measles in the US in the past 22 years

It is worth paying close attention to the new bill "Dangerous Viral Gain of Function Research Moratorium Act" introduced by Senator Roger Marshall.

If enacted, it will effectively stop all of virological research, including for vaccines.

RFK Jr. thinks that a clinical trial should be done for the entire childhood vaccine schedule. Here’s why that will never happen.

1. You can’t do a randomized trial of something that we already know is safe and effective. There would have to be a placebo group that didn’t get vaxxed. Unethical.

The non-scientists I work with are always surprised I don’t have science podcasts to recommend. I spend a majority of my waking hours thinking/working in infectious disease and healthcare.
Why would I want to spend my non-work hours taking in more information/news on those topics?

Unimportant movie detail that bothers me more than it should:

Professional/grad students don’t live in the dorms.

It’s never been about vaccine safety or informed consent. He wanted to see how many children would die from measles if they weren’t vaccinated so he could say the vaccines didn’t work. More than 80 kids died. He blamed that on the vaccines too. Vaccines that would have prevented those kids’ deaths.
The story behind RFK Jr. in Samoa's measles crisis has never been reported. He wasn't there to spread misinformation about vaccines (though he did). He wanted to study a "natural experiment" of unvaccinated kids.

“I can’t imagine anything less ethical or more cruel.”

Experts saw Samoa's plunging vaccination rates as a crisis. RFK Jr. saw an opportunity.
New details show how Robert F. Kennedy Jr., then chair of an anti-vaccine group and now Trump’s pick for health secretary, sought to exploit a deadly vaccine accident.

I always intended to change my last name after getting married, but with school, graduation, job hunting, I never got around to it in the first 2 years.
After the election, I went into hyper-speed to make sure as much as possible was changed before today, just in case absolutely insanity starts.

iPhone was essentially bricked during the iOS 18.1.1 update. Paid $40 for some off-brand restoring software that did work after Apple was 0 help. Restored my phone to the previous backup, and it seems to be ok (pictures, apps, settings, the whole lot)??? Someone freed up 40GB in the ordeal??
