NO DMs.
Slow but dedicated distance trail and pavement runner.
Gardening, reading, and destination races are hobbies.
I support equal rights for all.
I brought in many plants before the cold and snow came. This Lisianthus bloomed yesterday.
We'll see if I remember to water all the rescues.
But today everything's coming up purple in a snow white Minnesota. 💜

Hello from the hellscape of Minneapolis/St Paul!
I spent most of Friday out & about all over the city & was not bothered by any roving Somali gangs.
Some immigrant people rang up my purchases. I bought things at immigrant and women-run places. No problems.
Huh.
We need to see those MRI results.

Wearing a boot.

I suppose I will die never knowing what pumpkin pie tastes like when you have room for it.
Robert Breault

Thanksgiving Day 5k Turkey Trot.
Fast walk in my boot for me.
26° and sunny.
So grateful to wear running clothes after 5-1/2 weeks!
Boot comes off Tuesday!
Much rejoicing then.
Enjoy the day!

Good morning!
How about a break from the news and pass a little gratitude along in the form of helping others today?

I just want to feel normal again.
-Unknown

2 weeks into a 6 week boot sentence.
I am sick of riding a bike to nowhere. I want to be outside!
This time of the year is golden for running in Minnesota. No snow, ice, or wind chill.
Tears at the gym watching people running on the track.
Sucks.

Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile
- William Cullen Bryant

Bright October crispness this morning.
I was at Mines of Spain ultra in Iowa to support a friend this weekend. Poured rain through the night. This is not an easy race to begin with.
Leaf colors are amazing now!

The SuperBowl wasn't political until MAGA a**holes made it political.

There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate.
Linda Grayson

Or a friend who runs with you.
Chilly, foggy 7 mile morning trail run with a friend.
Good conversation, pretty views, fun sidewalk art.
So glad to be back to a normal routine!

See the dog and butterfly
Up in the air he likes to fly
- Heart

It felt like that kind of trail run.
Almost a month since running my home turf; familiar trails, hills, terrain.
So happy I almost floated.
Funny how your skills get rusty from a little absence.
Fall has come to Minnesota.

I like Hollywood. I just like Minneapolis a little bit better.
-Prince

Twin City 10 mile today. It's known as The shortcut to the Capitol. The Twin City Marathon takes the long way; past the Basilica, Sculpture Garden, 4 lakes, & 2 parkways.
Lost steam but finished. Not fully recovered from 100k.

I'm not afraid of getting older
I'm one less day from dying young
- Rob Thomas

Cool, early morning hill repeats today.
Recovery has been going well.
Happy run through a park & a secluded trail.
Birds, flowers, fallen leaves made it beautiful.

Easy Does It

The slogan works in AA and when recovering from a race.
My legs were like running on 2x4s on Tuesday & Wednesday.
Bike ride today.
Seriously want to do that distance again.

Failure is success in progress.
– Albert Einstein

3 tries, 3 fails.
4th time - success!
I ran Dot's Last Standing 24 hour in Wisconsin. 62.5 miles (100k) finished!
So glad to FINALLY get it.
Friends paced me overnight. So many helped while I trained.
Never give up.

Electricity is really just organized lightning.
-George Carlin

Another early morning run. Today's gasp of delight was brought on by turning a corner and seeing a big cloud lit up by lightning.
I like this running in the pre-dawn.
Monarchs all over my Sedum is an added bonus.
September 17, 2025 at 12:41 PM
There is no dark side of the moon really. Matter of fact it's all dark.
-Pink Floyd

Any day you can quote Pink Floyd is a good day.
One moon, 4 planets on my pre-dawn interval workout today.
And a white lined sphinx moth! A first for me.
Oh the things you'll see.

Onward up many a frightening creek, though your arms may get sore and your sneakers may leak. Oh! The places you'll go!
Dr. Seuss

Early easy run by the creek that meanders around my town.
And I love tunnels.

Go fast enough to get there, but slow enough to see.
—Jimmy Buffett

Ran a 10k today on paved trail where I usually run dirt.
I was not last.
I was amused when I stepped off to take a photo & everyone running by me looked to see what I was taking a photo of. Deer? Bear? Swans? Nope. Just scenic.

For still there are so many things that I have never seen: in every wood in every spring there is a different green.
– J. R. R. Tolkien

Sunny afternoon escape to the trails.
Easy, peaceful run.
The green was amazing!
Squeezing out every bit of summer.

"Find your peace in the fog"

Cool foggy morning running with a friend.
The wooden bridge was frosty and we slipped and slid across it.
7 easy miles done before most people are finishing their coffee.
The peaceful time.

Running allows me to set my mind free.
Kara Goucher

10.46 mile solo trail run. Tapering weekend.
Most trail runners I know are at Fall Superior Races up north this weekend.
I saw signs of fall with leaves turning color and the sumac reddening.
Peaceful run.
It was needed.

I got this when I was a kid. I don't still have it but I live in a house that looks a lot like this.

Good things come slow—especially in distance running
Bill Dellinger

13 more miles today. Less elevation, mostly paved. Some guy yelled at me to keep it going at 11 miles. Made me smile.
Do you ever find yourself on autopilot when you run?
Last mile, legs just carried me home.
Taper time.

There is no Wi-Fi in the forest, but I promise you will find a better connection

Last long run weekend before taper.
13 miles, 1623' of elev, 4 hours, horses, dogs, and photos!
Nothing better.
